Beauty in the Sky

"Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.
 Marcus Aurelius

When Ian and I left to go to Carson City, NV a week ago, we left pretty late. We trekked over a rather large mountain in the middle of the night. We saw very few other cars. It was fun traveling under darkness. It felt cozy and easy to talk. Then, when we were at the top of the mountain, I looked up and saw more stars than I had ever seen. Literally thousands of them. I had Ian pull over. We got out and admired the stars in the middle of total and complete darkness. I had to leave the shutter on my camera open for 10 seconds just to get the stars to show up. The scene was breathtaking, calm and beautiful. It was unlike anything I have experienced in a while. And I am thankful that I got to.

Promises

On Tuesday it was very stormy in Los Angeles. When I got on the freeway to head to a friends house, I saw this amazing rainbow. This picture doesn't even do it justice. It was a perfect rainbow and it was ginormious. And for the few minutes that I got to stare at it, I was in awe. I actually got goosebumps thinking what it means. A rainbow is really the only physical (well, at least to the eye) sign of God's promises...at least that I can think of. It is so beautiful and so significant. Love it!
