Mother's Day Tea Party with Isla

^^ Photo courtesy of Connor. He actually thought he was hysterical and took a bunch of photos from my waist down. Thankfully he actually took one that got our heads in it AND we are smiling.

On Wednesday was Isla's mother's day tea party at school. Having experienced this last year with Connor, I was really excited. Isla's teachers did not disappoint. They put on quite the little party for us moms. It was a watermelon theme. It started out with us going and sitting at little tables. Then the teachers opened the divider and the kids sang us three songs about moms. I didn't take any pictures of this because I was too busy videoing it. Isla did great, singing and doing the hand movements. After the singing, all the kids sat with the moms and we ate. There was quite the spread and it was all really good. The kids made us presents, a watermelon candle holder. While opening the present, Isla said "You have to share the candy with me." Sure enough, there was a bag of candy (watermelon candies, of course) shoved in the candle holder…and being the nice mom that I am, I shared the candy with her when I ate it. The teachers served us and doted on us. It was a really great time.

^^ My place setting. I was a little confused by Isla saying that I always say "I love blue". When she came and sat with me, I asked her what I say all the time and she said "I love you" and my heart melted into a blob. Though, I do get why the teachers thought she said blue because she says you -ooh.

^^ The spread on the table…including chocolate covered strawberries! Isla can be a picky eater, so I was surprised when she ate two of those little sandwiches. I'm glad to see the girl is branching out.

^^ A little phone selfie with my girl. The teachers tried taking a picture of us together, but Isla refused to cooperate.

^^ Isla was more interested in reading the front of her card, than looking at the camera. She was quite proud of that card and even wanted to carry it around at home.

I seriously just eat this kind of thing up as a mom. I love it so much and am so glad the teachers put on something like this. I know it is a lot of work on their part, but it really does mean a lot to me. And I get to do it all over again today in Connor's class!
